Cedar Deck Restoration in Republic
A grey, weather-cracked cedar deck was stripped, brightened, and finished with a premium semi-transparent stain — making it the focal point of the backyard again.
Eight years of Ozark summers had grayed the Schroeders' cedar deck and lifted the grain. Whetstone executed a two-day restoration: strip and brighten on day one, sand and stain on day two, leaving the family with a deck that looks better than the day it was built.
The Schroeders had tried to refinish the deck themselves twice — once with a deck cleaner from the hardware store, and once with a paint-on stain that peeled in a single summer. The wood had grayed, the grain had lifted, and tannin bleed had darkened the rim joist. Whetstone proposed a full strip-and-brighten followed by a premium oil-based semi-transparent stain rated for full UV exposure.
